Skydive Empuriabrava has grown to become one of the top three skydiving centers in the world, achieving over 1.000.000 jumps being made at the dropzone since its beginnings in 1985. Their latest project, The Empuriabrava Wind Tunnel equipped with state-of-the-art technology features the latest technology and is designed to adapt the wind speed to any type of user.
Who the Tunnel is intended for:
Speaking of users, you do not have to be a licensed skydiver to give the tunnel a try. If you have never used a wind tunnel before, you'll receive a theoretical class where a professional instructordemonstrates flying position, get you to practice them and receive instructions on how to improve them during your time in the tunnel using hand signals.
You will also receive complete equipment: suit, helmet , goggles , shoes, it's all included within the package. Maximum number per group are 13 people with each person entering twice for one minute but normally the groups contain between 8 to 10 flyers.Professional flyers do not have to follow the same procedure as the first-flyers, they book their flying time directly, the only procedure is signing a waiver.
The Wind Tunnel features:
The most striking feature of the facility is its glass cylinder measuring 4.30 meters in diameter and 5.85 meters in height and the efficient tube is 16 meters high (in a building measuring 23.40 meters). The wind can reach a maximum speed of 300 kilometers per hour however, the electric engines are used to set the speed according to abilitywith ease in a matter of seconds. And acceleration from 0 to 290 kilometers per hour takes just 10 seconds!
If you'd like to give the Windoor Real Fly Wind Tunnel a try, check their website for more information. The facility is open all year round, 7 days a week and the tunnel often operates till late night. Call the reception for more information on opening times.
